MJF says he has pitched a Wednesday Night Wars documentary to Tony Khan
A Wednesday Night Wars documentary? It could happen.
On Late Night Grin, MJF revealed that he had pitched the idea to Tony Khan, mentioning that they now have some key talent that worked in NXT during the time the two brands went head-to-head on Wednesday nights.
“We literally won and we have guys that work in our company now that were on the other side. It would be f****** sick. You can sit down [Adam Cole] and [Roderick Strong], Kyle [O’Reilly] and Swerve. You know, all these guys that were on the other side of the war…you can’t sit down Bobby Fish unfortunately…I mean folks, where’s the lie?,” he said, borrowing Fish’s infamous quote.
A few months before AEW Dynamite made its debut on TNT, WWE announced that NXT would be moving to the USA Network on Wednesday nights, competing head-to-head with Dynamite. On the first night of head-to-head competition, Dynamite scored a big win of 1.4 million viewers over NXT’s 891,000. AEW would go on to win most weeks until 2021, when WWE chose to move NXT to Tuesday nights where it has remained ever since.
