AEW star joins cast of Universal Pictures’ Violent Night 2

MJF has landed another acting role.
The former AEW World Champion has been cast in Violent Night 2, a sequel to the 2022 film starring David Harbour (Stranger Things), Deadline reported on Tuesday. Kristen Bell (Frozen, Veronica Mars) and Jared Harris (Chernobyl, Foundation) are also set for roles in the film.
No further details regarding MJF’s role have been revealed.
The film is scheduled for release through Universal Pictures on December 4, 2026.
“In wrestling, MJF is known as arguably the biggest Heel (villains) in the entirety of the sport, boasting a massive global fanbase as demonstrated by his sold out main event at AEW’s ALL IN to more than 81,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in August 2023,” writes Deadline’s Justin Kroll.
MJF now has several acting credits outside of wrestling. He voiced Killer Croc in 2023’s direct-to-video Justice League × RWBY film, played Lance Von Erich in 2023’s The Iron Claw, is credited as Matt in 2025’s The Floaters, and most recently plays Happy Gilmore’s son, Gordie, in Happy Gilmore 2.
Up next in wrestling, MJF is set for a Title vs. Mask match against Mistico at CMLL’s 92nd Anniversary Show on September 19. The following day, he’ll head to Toronto for All Out, where he is scheduled to wrestle Mark Briscoe.
