More AEW names added as CMLL finalizes Grand Prix lineup
A few more names from AEW have been added to the 2026 edition of CMLL’s International Grand Prix.
The men’s Grand Prix is set to be held at Arena Mexico on Friday, August 7. It will pit 11 representatives from Team World against 11 from Team Mexico, with only one wrestler emerging as the winner. Among the final additions to Team World are ROH World Champion Bandido, Claudio Castagnoli, Orange Cassidy, and Blake Christian.
Bandido, Castagnoli, Cassidy, and Christian will be joined by Rohan Raja (Maple Leaf Pro), Roderick Strong (AEW), Yujiro Takahashi (NJPW), Leon Cage (RevPro), PAC (AEW), DOUKI (NJPW), and Austin Aries (MLW) on Team World.
Team Mexico has Mistico, Barbaro Cavernario, Soberano Jr., Templario, Angel de Oro, Hechicero, Ultimo Guerrero, Mascara Dorada, Titan, Xelhua, and Volador Jr.
In both 2025 and 2023, Mistico was the winner of Grand Prix. Castagnoli won the 2024 edition of the elimination match. CMLL also holds an annual women’s Grand Prix in October that was most recently won by Persephone.
Grand Prix taking place same week as AEW Grand Slam Mexico —
Just two days before the men’s Grand Prix happens, AEW will present its Grand Slam Mexico edition of Dynamite on August 5. It’s the second straight year Arena Mexico has hosted the AEW event.
