Multiple AEW, NJPW, and CMLL talents reportedly unaware of their Forbidden Door plans
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV is just a few days away, and Fightful Select has reported a major update on talent plans for the show.
The Forbidden Door PPV is scheduled to take place on June 28, 2026, at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The PPV will feature wrestlers from AEW, CMLL, and NJPW. However, the latest report from Fightful Select noted that multiple talents across the different promotions were still unaware of their plans for the show.
Talents Fightful spoke across the different promotions, shared that some of them have not been told about their plans for the show. Although some talents claimed that this was not “out of the ordinary,” and they would find out about their matches on the week of the event.
Fightful Select also reported that Gabe Kidd was expected to play a huge role at this year’s Forbidden Door PPV. There were reportedly big title plans for Kidd in NJPW this year; however, his injury scrapped them. Kidd returned to NJPW last week and declared himself for the G1.
According to the reports, he “was originally anticipated to play off of his comments towards New Japan for Forbidden Door. ” As of now, Fightful Select is not sure about Kidd’s participation at this year’s Forbidden Door. Sources they spoke to in AEW shared that “things were being held close to the vest.”
Kidd had suffered a shoulder injury earlier this year at the Dynasty 2026 PPV.
