People in WWE ‘very high’ on current AEW Trios Champion

AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs apparently has some fans within WWE.

In the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there are people in WWE who think very highly of Hobbs. The brief report did not provide any information on who these unnamed people are or how much longer Hobbs has on his current AEW contract.

“There are those in WWE who are very high on Powerhouse Hobbs,” Meltzer wrote.

Hobbs competed in the main event of AEW Dynamite this week, teaming up with Hook in a loss to Hangman Page & Swerve Strickland in a Lights Out match. Hobbs and Hook are both members of The Opps with Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata.

The 34-year-old Hobbs (William Hobson) has been with AEW since 2020, when he joined the company after starring on the California indies. He’s a former TNT Champion and currently holds the Trios titles with Joe & Shibata. Their reign began in April 2025 and most recently saw them retain against Page, Eddie Kingston & Hook in November prior to Hook turning heel.
