Report: Update on AEW star’s contract status

Claudio Castagnoli is with AEW for the foreseeable future.

Fightful Select reported on Sunday that the AEW star has a “substantial amount of time left in his contract” after questions about his status emerged, as it has been three years since Castagnoli made his debut. Additionally, Fightful noted that Tony Khan wishes to have Castangoli be a part of AEW for the foreseeable future.

After a long tenure in WWE, the former Cesaro signed with AEW in 2022, making his debut against Zack Sabre Jr and becoming the newest member of the Blackpool Combat Club. Soon after, he won the ROH Championship at that year’s Death Before Dishonor event.

When Jon Moxley attacked Bryan Danielson last year, Castagnoli turned heel along with the rest of the BCC and together they became known as the Death Riders, which in the time since has dominated the promotion. Most recently, he competed in the Lights Out match that took place at this year’s Forbidden Door. Although they were unsuccessful, the Death Riders managed to isolate Will Ospreay and injure his neck, writing him out of the promotion.
