Ric Flair shuts down in-ring return speculation

Ric Flair isn’t going to come out of retirement, though it sounds like he was at least considering the possibility recently.

During a virtual signing for K&S WrestleFest that took place on Thursday, Flair mentioned that “somebody” was wanting him to return to the ring for one more match against Ricky Morton. Flair did not reveal who was trying to book the match — and he said they were “way off on financial terms.” The 76-year-old Flair did note that he liked the idea of having something that would motivate him when he goes to the gym every day.

A return doesn’t look to be in the cards, though, with Flair posting a tweet responding to the speculation that was created by his comments. Flair reaffirmed that he will never wrestle again.

“First, Let Me Clear Something Up! I Will Never Wrestle Again,” Flair wrote before then promoting an upcoming personal appearance. “I’m Heading To Flair Country. Charleston, South Carolina Get Ready! The Nature Boy And @FitermanSports Are Taking Over @SpookyEmpire This Weekend! If You Want To Be The Best, You Gotta Be With The Best! Come See Me Saturday & Sunday!”

Flair, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, last competed in the ring when he and Anrade El Idolo faced Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett in 2022. The tag bout headlined a Ric Flair’s Last Match special that was promoted by Flair’s son-in-law Conrad Thompson under the Jim Crockett Promotions banner. During the match, Flair passed out multiple times.

In 2025, Flair battled health problems including skin cancer and a rotator cuff injury. He announced last July that he is now cancer-free.
