Samoa Joe-Eddie Kingston face-off announced for AEW Dynamite

Eddie Kingston chopping Katsuyori Shibata

Fresh off a victory over Katsuyori Shibata on Collision on Thanksgiving night, Eddie Kingston demanded and was awarded an AEW World Heavyweight Championship match at this month’s Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite.

He won’t have to wait long to lay eyes on the champion as AEW has announced a face-to-face confrontation between Kingston and Samoa Joe for this Wednesday’s Dynamite from Fishers, Indiana.

In addition to his win over Shibata, Kingston also has history with Hook, Joe’s original partner in The Opps. The Opps won the AEW World Trios titles when Hook was out with injury and he teamed with Kingston upon his return to active duty.

However, he helped Joe win the AEW World title from Hangman Page at November’s Full Gear, revealing that he had been working with Joe behind the scenes the entire time.

Per Cagematch, Kingston and Joe have wrestled just once in the past decade, that being in a trios match on Dynamite last month. They have not wrestled in a singles bout since 2007 with Joe getting the win at a PWS event in Garfield, New Jersey.

Winter is Coming is booked for the Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday, December 10.
