After taking part in Double or Nothing, the former Tye Dillinger is officially part of the AEW roster.

On the second episode of AEW’s Road to Fyter Fest series, it was announced that Shawn Spears has signed with AEW.

The 38-year-old Spears was one of the entrants in the Casino Battle Royale on the Double or Nothing pre-show. That match was won by Hangman Page, who will face Chris Jericho at All Out on August 31 to decide the first AEW World Champion.

During his post-show media scrum at Double or Nothing, Spears said that he hadn’t signed with AEW at that point but noted that it felt like home with the way he was treated.

Spears announced on February 19 that he had requested his release from WWE. It was then granted days later. In an interview that Spears did with Sports Illustrated last month, it was stated that his no-compete clause with WWE expired less than 48 hours before Double or Nothing.
