Taz returns to broadcast booth on AEW Dynamite

Taz AEW

Taz made his return to commentary duties on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite from Orlando, Florida, alongside Tony Schiavone and Excalibur.

The 58-year-old underwent successful shoulder surgery last October which was preceded by total knee replacement surgery in 2024.

The ECW icon and longtime broadcaster stayed away from AEW television and PPVs after his knee replacement which also kept him away from AEW’s UK shows last year which included Forbidden Door due to concerns about what the long flight would do to his knee.

During Taz’s absence from commentary duties, former AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson had taken up the role of a commentator. It’s unclear what Danielson’s role will be in the future.

A fixture in the promotion since 2019, Taz was inducted into the 2300 Arena’s Hardcore Hall of Fame last summer in a surprise move. His son, Hook, has been under AEW contract since late-2021, signing a new multi-year deal in 2024.
