Tony Khan: I have ‘a lot of respect’ for what MJF did at CMLL Aniversario & AEW All Out

Tony Khan has a lot of respect for the performances MJF was able to put in last week.

Last Friday, MJF took part in CMLL’s Aniversario supershow at Arena Mexico, facing off against Mistico. He then quickly headed to Toronto, Ontario, Canada for his AEW All Out match against Mark Briscoe the next afternoon.

Both matches were losses for MJF, but he earned praise from Khan for his in-ring work and how well he represented AEW.

“I think MJF is a huge star. He’s a huge part of AEW. He’s a great wrestler. I have a lot of respect for what he did to have two amazing matches in two different countries,” Khan told The Sportster. “Incredibly, to go from Mexico, be in Arena Mexico in Mexico City and then to go to Toronto, and in less than 24 hours to have two amazing matches, wrestling Mistico for the CMLL World title and then wrestling Mark Briscoe in this Tables n’ Tacks match at AEW All Out. It’s amazing.”

MJF was CMLL World Light Heavyweight Champion before dropping the title to Mistico in their mask vs. title match at the Aniversario event.

In AEW, MJF is in possession of a title shot contract that gives him a future World Championship match. He unsuccessfully challenged Hangman Page for the title at Forbidden Door 2025 but was able to get that bout without using his contract. When he does execute the contract, MJF will need to give at least one week’s notice before getting his shot.
