Tony Khan: Mystery AEW vignette ‘not necessarily teasing the biggest free agent signing’

Tony Khan has commented on the mystery wrestler teased last week on AEW Collision.

A vignette aired on Saturday’s show teasing the debut of a masked wrestler. The words “Holo.grm” and “loading soon” flashed on the screen during the 13-second video.

Khan was asked about the vignette during an appearance on The Battleground Podcast recently. The AEW president responded that the vignette is not necessarily teasing a big free agent signing, such as Ricochet.

“It’s somebody I’m excited for but it’s not necessarily teasing the biggest free agent signing or anything like that but it’s a wrestler who we’re really excited about,” Khan said. “And it’s cool to use vignettes to get people excited about introducing somebody to AEW.”

While the vignette on Collision may not be teasing Ricochet’s debut, the 35-year-old is expected to join AEW. Ricochet’s next move was addressed by our own Dave Meltzer in last week’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

“Ricochet (Trevor Mann, 35), had his contract expire in WWE and he’s expected to debut here shortly. It will be interesting to see his early reaction. I think we’ve learned nobody that AEW can get is going to single-handedly move ratings at this point, but as far as crowd reactions after the first week, where obviously it’ll be big, will they see him as a WWE guy who was just a guy on the roster or will they see him as Ricochet from years ago when he was one of the hottest indie stars in the world?” Meltzer wrote.
