Two teams advance to AEW Tag Team title tournament semifinals

Two teams advanced to the semifinals of the AEW Tag Team title tournament on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

The Young Bucks and Best Friends scored victories on Wednesday’s episode to advance to the tournament semifinals. 

Matthew & Nicholas Jackson of The Young Bucks defeated Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen in one quarterfinal bout Wednesday, while Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta of Best Friends defeated Undisputed Kingdom’s Matt Taven & Mike Bennett in another quarterfinal match on Dynamite to advance. 

The two teams will meet on next week’s Dynamite in the semifinals. The remaining quarterfinals matches on the other side of the bracket are set for Saturday’s AEW Collision episode, with FTR facing The Infantry, plus Ricky Starks & Big Bill vs. Top Flight. 

The finals of the AEW Tag Team title tournament are set for the Dynasty pay-per-view on Sunday, April 21. The tournament winner will fill the AEW Tag Team Championship vacated by Sting & Darby Allin following Sting’s retirement earlier this month. 

Quarterfinals, AEW Collision, Saturday, March 30: 

  • FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. The Infantry (Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo)
  • Ricky Starks & Big Bill vs. Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin)

Semifinals, AEW Dynamite, Wednesday, April 3: 

  • The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) vs. Best Friends (Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta)

Semifinals, date TBA:

  • FTR/Infantry winner vs. Starks & Bill/Top Flight winner
