World title match official for AEW Dynamite
Mark Briscoe isn’t going to wait for his World title match.
After his team emerged victorious in the Death’s Door match at Forbidden Door on Sunday, Briscoe cut a promo saying he wasn’t going to wait for his opportunity and threw out the challenge to AEW World Champion MJF for this coming Wednesday’s Dynamite in San Diego. The match was made official later in the show.
Briscoe’s team defeated MJF’s team on Sunday after Briscoe pinned Jake Doyle with the Jay Driller. A big turn took place near the end of the match as after weeks of tension, Andrade El Idolo turned against MJF and the Don Callis Family by laying out MJF with a spinning backfist. Andrade went on to low blow Doyle, allowing Briscoe to strike for the victory.
MJF had been ducking Briscoe for weeks regarding a championship match, giving title matches to others but refusing to face the man who defeated him last year at All Out. That led to Briscoe going to Tony Khan and securing a chance at a possible title shot, revealing that if his team defeated MJF’s team at Forbidden Door, he would get the match.
