AJ Styles reveals role in NXT star’s final match before anticipated main roster call up

WWE NXT

AJ Styles had a hand to play in Kendal Grey and Lola Vice’s NXT Underground Match for the Women’s Championship on August 4.

On The AJ Styles Show, the wrestling legend praised the two talents while revealing that he and Johnny Moss produced the match. He was taken back by Grey and Vice’s in-ring moves given their wrestling and MMA backgrounds which required minimum input from the producers.

“Yeah, there were two of us, two producers in that match (Johnny) Moss and myself. There’s not much you need to do in a match like this because these girls are so good. But if you watch it, there are some sprinkles of AJ Styles in there that you’ll go, ‘Oh, yeah, that makes sense.’ But the truth is, Moss and I didn’t have to do very much because they are so good at what they do. Both these girls, Kendal’s not just a wrestler, by the way. She took all kinds of mixed martial arts and you can tell once she starts throwing punches, you’re like, ‘Wait a second.’”

“Then Lola is the same, MMA. She can throw and her kicks are just freaking awesome. When you see them, you go, ‘Hold on a second. That doesn’t look fake at all.’ Just the way they do certain things is just unbelievable. And this match that they had, whoever came up with it and put them in it, perfect. It was perfect. They’re so good.”

The match style was heavily in Vice’s favor despite Grey retaining the NXT Women’s Championship. After the main event and the program went off air, Vice seemed to bid farewell to the Performance Center syncing with reports of her anticipated main roster call up.
