Braun Strowman admits ‘sometimes the scripts sucked’ in WWE
In his new non-wrestling venture, Braun Strowman is looking forward to having more creative freedom than he did in WWE.
It was announced this month that Strowman (real name Adam Scherr) has partnered with Magilla Entertainment to launch a new production company named “Meat Castle Media.” Strowman spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the news and noted that, while he appreciates the opportunities WWE provided him, he was often frustrated with the creative process.
“For me, the big eye-opening thing was not having my hands tied,” Strowman said while discussing his production company. “They’ve allowed me to be me, whereas I’ve had my hands were tied creatively for the last 12 years (in WWE). And while that’s not a bad thing — I was very blessed with what I got to do — but at the end of the day, I was playing a character on a show, and sometimes the script sucked. I mean, no offense, I hated it, but I had to go in there and make the best of it because that was my job. Well, now with this opportunity… my creative input is welcomed, it’s not dismissed.”
Strowman was released from WWE in May 2025 but still partners with the promotion for the USA Network food series “Everything on the Menu,” which is now back in production after a successful first season. Strowman’s production company is working on a new reality show called “Hands On” where he will try out a different profession in each episode.
Later in the Hollywood Reporter interview, Strowman was questioned about a potential acting career and whether he would follow the path taken by other WWE stars like The Rock, John Cena, and Dave Bautista.
“I’ve never been really one that, like, idolizes anybody’s career,” he responded. “All through the wrestling stuff, I never tried to be any other wrestler. I never wanted to be the next Undertaker or the next Big Show. I wanted to be the first Braun Strowman. It’s very inspiring, but… I don’t want to be the next Rock, I don’t want to be the next Batista. I want to be the first Adam Scherr — and I am.”
Strowman started 2026 having to undergo surgery to drain excess fluid from his knee after an infection. While his focus is on other projects right now, he’s teased a potential in-ring return later this year.
