Braun Strowman reveals how mask vs. mask match rekindled wrestling passion
The AAA Noche de Los Grandes main event took the wrestling world by storm and left a lasting impression. Braun Strowman too praised the match citing it reminded him why he fell in love with pro wrestling.
Strowman reflected on the El Grande Americano vs. Original El Grande Americano bout and explained how it rekindled his passion for the industry on Off The Ropes with Jonathan Coachman.
“That AAA match between (Chad) Gable and Ludwig (Kaiser) made me feel. It made me remember why I love professional wrestling. It made me go, ‘I can go.’ There is no doubt in my mind, I can go. I can take my shirt off, and I’ll show you I look better than anybody on that damn roster or any three-letter brand roster. I’ve been focusing on these nerve injuries, all this other stuff. The reality of it is, I miss being in the ring. I miss being in the locker room. I don’t miss the rest of the bullsh*t that comes along with it.”
Strowman commented on the possibility of a wrestling return after his knee surgery earlier this year. He especially remarked on Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar’s WWE rivalry heading into WrestleMania. Strowman suggested that the right financial offer would make him consider a comeback.
The match took place on May 30 at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. It was subsequently aired on Netflix as a special presentation, garnering widespread acclaim from wrestlers, veterans and fans around the world, cementing it’s status as one of the year’s most celebrated matches.
