Former Raw star says ‘I feel more prepared to be World Champion’ nearly a decade after WWE breakthrough
Finn Balor remains confident that a World Championship run is in his future but this time he is better than ever to become a singles titleholder once again.
Balor told Marco Ercole that a decade ago, when he was crowned the inaugural Universal Champion, he was relatively inexperienced but over time has worked his way up. The WWE star believes he is in a better mindspace now to win the World Title than a decade ago.
“I think in 2016, I was very wide-eyed, bushy-tailed, excited about the future, but very inexperienced, and perhaps not as confident as I am today.”
“I feel like over the last 10 years I’ve gotten to grow, not only as a performer inside the ring, but also outside the ring. I feel like I have more self-belief in myself, I have more discipline, and I have 10 years of experience of ups and downs and having to learn many, many different lessons, facing the top performers all over the world over the past 10 years.”
“If anything, I feel better physically, I feel better mentally, I feel more focused and I feel more prepared to be World Champion.”
Balor challenged for the World Title earlier this year on two occasions. He was moved to SmackDown shortly after The Judgment Day imploded in March.
At SummerSlam, he will face Sami Zayn in a No. 1 Contender match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
