Aussie Open vs. Josh Alexander & Frankie Kazarian set for next Impact

On Thursday’s Impact Wrestling, Aussie Open returned to issue an open challenge after their last outing didn’t go so well.

It got answered by an unexpected duo: Impact World Champion Josh Alexander & Frankie Kazarian, opponents for next month’s Over Drive.

Alexander and Kazarian had a conversation backstage after Steve Maclin jumped Alexander and Kazarian happened to come to his aid. Alexander threw out the idea and his future title challenger liked it.

The X-Division title tournament will roll on with the remaining two quarterfinal matches.

In a clash of former champions on the main show, “Speedball” Mike Bailey will face Kenny King while on the Before The Impact pre-show, Yuya Uemura will take on the returning PJ Black.

For the first time ever, Eric Young will face Sami Callihan in singles action. Young was spotted Thursday talking to someone backstage in hopes of recruiting them based on what happens next week.

Here’s the current lineup for next Thursday:

  • Kenny King vs. Mike Bailey X-Division title tournament quarterfinal
  • Sami Callihan vs. Eric Young
  • Aussie Open vs. Frankie Kazarian & Josh Alexander
  • BTI pre-show: Yuya Uemura vs. PJ Black X-Division title tournament quarterfinal
