Joe Hendry to challenge for TNA World title at Slammiversary

Joe Hendry is getting another shot at the TNA Championship.
TNA announced on social media Friday that Hendry will challenge for the TNA Championship at Slammiversary, which takes place on July 20 at the UBS Arena.
However, during Friday’s TNA Impact taping that aired live for TNA+ subscribers, Mike Santana declared he wanted a shot at the title, wanting to challenge both men and walk out of his hometown the TNA World Champion. The triple threat has yet to be made official.
Hendry lost the title to Trick Williams in the main event of NXT Battleground back in May, putting the title in the hands of a WWE-contracted wrestler for the first time. Shortly after, Santana faced Williams in a TNA title match on an episode of NXT. He was unsuccessful thanks to interference from First Class, AJ Francis and KC Navarro. Santana defeated Francis at Friday’s tapings as a measure of revenge.
Since losing the title Hendry has been on a losing streak, failing to defeat Frankie Kazarian and coming up short in a four-way for the X Division title at AAA’s Triplemania Regia.
