Three no. 1 contender qualifying matches set for Impact Wrestling

The road to getting a shot at Impact World Champion Kenny Omega kicked off Thursday and will continue next week as well as a series of qualifying matches for a six-way at May 15th’s Under Siege continues.

Scott D’Amore announced the news to kick off Thursday’s show as former champion Rich Swann didn’t have a rematch clause in his contract after losing to Omega last Sunday at Rebellion.

The first three qualifiers saw Chris Bey and Matt Cardona advance while Sami Callihan vs. Eddie Edwards went to a no-contest due to interference from Omega and the Good Brothers.

Next Thursday will see Moose vs. James Storm; Rhino vs. Chris Sabin; and Rohit Raju vs. Trey Miguel for the other three spots. It’s unknown how they will address the no-contest as Edwards is now booked in a six-man tag at Under Siege, teaming with Tag Team Champions FinJuice against Omega and the Good Brothers.

Next week’s show will also see the Impact debut of El Phantasmo from New Japan Pro Wrestling, continuing the relationship between both groups.
