TNA World Champion to make Maple Leaf Pro debut

TNA World Champion Mike Santana is heading up to Canada for his Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling debut.

Santana will be in action at MLP Reena Rumble in Toronto next Monday (October 27), taking on Sheldon Jean. The match was announced by Santana cutting a promo accepting an open challenge that had been issued by Dean.

“Sheldon, I got to give you your props. You’ve been doing a pretty good damn job at cementing yourself as one of the best in Canada,” Santana said. “But I’m going to give you an opportunity to go toe-to-toe with one of the greatest in the world, the TNA Wrestling World Champion.

“Now Sheldon, this ain’t a knock. These are just facts. You know — and everybody knows — I’m addicted to greatness. I’ll see you at Reena Rumble. Let’s get it.”

The announcement comes after there were recently some questions over whether TNA talent are allowed to wrestle for Maple Leaf Pro, a promotion that is run by former TNA President Scott D’Amore. TNA star Moose said he’d like to be able to compete for MLP but cannot because MLP has a relationship with AEW. After those comments received attention online, TNA publicly denied that there is a ban in place.

Santana became TNA World Champion this month at Bound for Glory when he defeated NXT star Trick Williams for the title.

New Age Experience Center in Toronto is hosting the Reena Rumble event, which will benefit Reena, a charity that is dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Matt Hardy, Carlito, Colt Cabana, Gisele Shaw, and Rhino are among those set to appear.
