Indie wrestler Robert Martyr safe after concerning tweet

Indie wrestler Robert Martyr has thankfully been found safe after a concerning situation unfolded overnight.

Late on Wednesday, Martyr sent out a tweet that made everyone concerned for his mental health and safety. His sister followed up a few hours later saying that she was unsure of Martyr’s whereabouts and asked for help from anyone who had seen or heard from him.

In a new update this morning, it was said that Martyr is safe and is being treated in a mental health facility. He expressed earlier this month that he had been struggling mentally for the past few weeks.

“Hello everyone, Robert was found this morning and is safe,” the update said. “He will be monitored and treated in a mental health facility for the time being. Thank you all who reposted and were concerned. We will keep you all updated when possible. Thank you.”

Martyr began his wrestling career in the late 2010s and has competed for indies across the United States. Along with that, he got to accomplish a dream earlier this year by spending time wrestling in Japan.

“For the past 3 months, I lived the dream I’ve held onto my whole life,” Martyr tweeted in July. “Wrestling, training, learning, and experiencing Japan day by day with five of the most dedicated people I’ve ever met. What started as a wrestling goal became something much deeper. A life milestone.

“From debuting at [Pro Wrestling NOAH] for Monday Magic to wrestling in Korakuen Hall, learning Japanese, getting lost at the subway, seeing bands I love, and standing across from legends. Every moment taught me something. I didn’t just grow as a wrestler. I grew as a man. The lessons, the clarity, the personal evolution. it’s all irreplaceable. I came to Japan to chase a dream. I left with the man I needed to become. Thank you to the fans in Japan for accepting me, feeling with me, and treating me like one of your own. Your support means more than you know. I’ll be back.”
