AJPW to hold memorial service for Joe Doering
At one of the promotion’s upcoming events, All Japan Pro Wrestling will hold a memorial service for the late Joe Doering.
Doering found the biggest success in his career for AJPW, becoming a two-time Triple Crown Champion and four-time Tag Team Champion. He also competed for TNA/Impact Wrestling before tragically having his career cut short due to brain cancer. Doering battled the disease three times, first being diagnosed in 2016 before it returned in 2022 and 2025. He was able to make an in-ring return after the first battle but had to step away from the ring in 2022.
Shortly after it was announced that he was being moved to hospice care, Doering passed away at 44 years old on June 26. AJPW has announced that it will be honoring him with a memorial service and flower offerings when the promotion comes to Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on July 19.
“All Japan Pro Wrestling will hold a memorial service and set up a flower altar for Joe Doering at the ‘Summer Action Series 2026’ event at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on Sunday, July 19th, in remembrance of the passing of Joe Doering, who died on June 26th,” AJPW announced.
“We will inform you of the start time of the memorial service and the location of the flower altar as soon as they are decided.”
Those who knew Doering have lauded him for the courage and grace he showed while having so much of the last decade of his life impacted by cancer. After his passing, AJPW sent its deepest condolences to Doering’s friends and family.
The July 19 AJPW show will include a Tag Team title match with The Saito Brothers (Jun & Rei Saito) defending against Daisuke Sekimoto & Kengo Mashimo. There’s also a tag match with current Triple Crown Champion Kento Miyahara teaming with Kuma Arashi against Ren Ayabe & Ryuki Honda. That’ll help build up Miyahara’s title defense against Ayabe for July 25.
