Killer Kross on WWE tension and release: ‘I made sure everyone knew exactly what was going on’

Killer Kross gets honest about his relationship with Scarlett Bordeaux: 'Just instant chemistry'

Former WWE stars Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux discussed WWE’s talent releases, the company’s evolving approach to roster management, and the success they have found since departing the promotion.

In an interview with 1010XL – Jacksonville’s Sports Radio, Kross and Bordeaux were asked about WWE’s modified operations on dealing with talents and the releases this year.

“No, because I saw this coming and I warned everyone. We did, but we didn’t tell everyone. Why wasn’t the locker room together? I made sure everyone knew exactly what was going on,” stated Kross.

“Yeah. We’re not surprised. I mean, it’s unfortunate. Look, the model has to compliment everyone. I mean, I shouldn’t even get into this, but you guys see what’s going on. I don’t need to paraphrase anything that’s happening. You see what’s happening. What are you gonna do?”

Kross further talked about his success outside of WWE, and emphasized the importance of connecting with the audience to maintain a healthy relationship.

“Having a relationship and a connection that’s authentic with the audience. It’s very easy. Everyone’s been saying, you know, attention is currency. That’s not the highest currency. Authenticity is the highest currency. And the professional wrestling audience has been starving for it. I tried to talk about this two years ago and pointed it out. Some people didn’t want to hear it. The audience definitely were like, ‘Hey, I think he’s on to something.’ Turns out we were right. Put that on a t-shirt.”

Kross and Bordeaux were a key talking point during SummerSlam last year when reports spread about their WWE contract expiration that month. He wrestled his last match in the company at the PLE against Sami Zayn and developed a strong connection with fans in the meantime. Despite the growing support and momentum behind him, the couple parted ways with WWE. Later, he revealed the decision stemmed because of WWE’s unwillingness to negotiate the contract and refusing to re-sign Bordeaux, maintaining that the two were a package deal and should not be separated.
