AEW, NJPW, MLW representatives among first names set for CMLL Grand Prix

Representatives from AEW, NJPW, and MLW are among the first names set for the 2026 edition of CMLL’s International Grand Prix.

On CMLL Informa this week, it was announced that PAC (representing the United Kingdom and AEW), DOUKI (Japan and NJPW), and Austin Aries (United States and MLW) will be part of Team World in August’s Grand Prix match. It’s expected to be a 20-man bout pitting a team from Mexico against a group of international wrestlers.

Titan, Xelhua, and Volador Jr. are the first confirmed participants for Team Mexico. The match will take place at Arena Mexico on Friday, August 7.

CMLL runs a men’s and women’s version of the Grand Prix every year, with the men’s taking place in August and the women’s then being held in October. The most recent male winners are Mistico (2025 and 2023) and Claudio Castagnoli (2024).

The Grand Prix is a cibernetico match where eliminations occur until only one person is standing at the end.

CMLL has partnerships with all three of AEW, NJPW, and MLW.

Last weekend saw AEW, NJPW, CMLL, and Stardom join forces for Forbidden Door 2026, where PAC and Titan were also in action. PAC lost a singles match to IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Shota Umino, while Titan teamed up with Shingo Takagi for a three-way tag match that was won by The Young Bucks.
