CMLL notes: AEW wrestler loses hair, Mercedes Mone’s next challenger set
Notes from Friday’s CMLL show in Arena Mexico.
The main event of the evening saw Johnny Consejo lose his hair to Angel de Oro, who emerged victorious after connecting with a frog splash. After the match, Johnny refused to go all the way with the cut. Oro responded by taking him out with a superkick, allowing the official to shave Johnny’s head. When he recovered, Johnny fled from the ring, dumbstruck that after all these years he was now bald.
Persephone will be next to challenge Mercedes Mone for the CMLL Women’s Championship, defeating Olympia on Friday after a kneeling Razor’s Edge. She and Mone previously met back in October, with Mone emerging victorious. Mone has been champion since last June and has made several appearances in Mexico to defend the title.
The two have also previously met in a four-way match back at Forbidden Door, with Mone retaining the TBS title over Persephone, Bozilla, and Alex Windsor.
Friday’s show also saw Claudio Castagnoli retain the CMLL Heavyweight title in a three-way match, defeating Akuma and Euphoria.
