The field for NJPW G1 Climax 36 is now fully set with Ryohei Oiwa and OSKAR becoming the final two wrestlers to qualify.

Oiwa defeated El Phantasmo at a Road to G1 event on Monday to earn the final spot in A Block. The show also saw OSKAR defeat Yujiro Takahashi to qualify as the last B Block competitor. Interference by House of Torture threatened to cost OSKAR that match, but Yuto-Ice made sure his tag team partner was able to overcome that and qualify. Both Knockout Brothers (OSKAR & Yuto-Ice) will be competing in the G1 but are in different blocks.

This will be the first G1 appearance for OSKAR and the second for Oiwa.

Chicago hosts the opening night of the G1 this Saturday (July 11). After a week off, the round-robin tournament resumes in Japan on July 18 and runs through August 16. The winner — if it’s not current champion Yota Tsuji — earns a shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
