New Japan Cup 2024 quarterfinals set

New Japan Cup 2024 is down to its final eight participants.

Ren Narita and Yota Tsuji secured their spots in the quarterfinals with victories at NJPW’s event in Osaka on Friday. In the main event of the show, Narita upset Zack Sabre Jr. after interference by House of Torture. Tsuji advanced with a victory over El Phantasmo.

Here’s the full quarterfinals schedule:

Saturday, March 16 —

  • SANADA vs. Jack Perry
  • Hirooki Goto vs. David Finlay

Sunday, March 17 —

  • Shingo Takagi vs. EVIL
  • Ren Narita vs. Yota Tsuji

Both semifinal matches will then take place on Monday (March 18), which leads into the finals being held on Wednesday (March 20).

The New Japan Cup winner earns an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship shot against Tetsuya Naito in the main event of Sakura Genesis. Naito has held the title since winning it from SANADA at Wrestle Kingdom 18 this January.

Sakura Genesis is taking place at Sumo Hall in Tokyo on Saturday, April 6.
