NJPW announces plans to hold event in the middle of an airport
New Japan Pro Wrestling is going to hold an event in the middle of an airport.
Prior to the start of night three of G1 Climax 36 in Hokkaido on Sunday, NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi and Yusuke Kimura of Hokkaido Airports Co. made the announcement.
Kimura announced that an event will be held on Friday, September 18, at Center Plaza in New Chitose Airport as part of celebrations for the airport’s 100th anniversary.
“We will be holding ‘airport wrestling’ at Center Plaza, right in the middle of New Chitose Airport!” Kimura said (translated).
“This is the first time that New Chitose Airport has done professional wrestling, and the first time that New Japan Pro-Wrestling has done professional wrestling at an airport. Bringing the truly once-in-a-century scenery to Hokkaido, Japan, and the world! It’s going to be a day like that!”
Tanahashi said, “I think New Chitose Airport is a great opportunity for people to see New Japan Pro-Wrestling, an airport used by people from all over the country, the world, and abroad.”
