NJPW crowns Super Junior Tag League winner
SHO and DOUKI have won the Super Junior Tag League.
The House of Torture team defeated Robbie X and Taiji Ishimori in the finals of the tournament on Sunday at Hiroshi Tanahashi Final Homecoming in Gifu. The finish saw DOUKI spray red mist in Ishimori’s face, hit a low blow, and roll him up with a handful of trunks for the pin.
NJPW wrote on X (translated):
“From an intense battle to the worst possible outcome…! DOUKI & SHO snatch the undefeated championship with ruthless fighting! And DOUKI declares himself the “strongest in Jr.”!”
DOUKI and SHO went a perfect 6-0 in the tournament and are the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. It wasn’t immediately clear who their next challengers would be, but they were confronted backstage afterward by Kosei Fujita.
“You guys are trash who can’t even fight without toys, right? Ain’t that the truth?” Fujita said to DOUKI and SHO.
“We’ve already beaten you guys back in September. Not interested. Hey, bring something and try standing in front of me,” DOUKI responded.
SHO & DOUKI successfully defended their titles against Fujita and Robbie Eagles last month on the Road to Destruction tour. Eagles and Fujita were the winners of the 2024 Super Junior Tag League.
This is SHO’s third time winning the Super Junior Tag League, after having also done so in 2018 and 2019 with YOH.
