NJPW G1 Climax night five results, updated standings

Early B Block action continued on Wednesday with Nagaoka hosting a show headlined by two of NJPW’s top foreign wrestlers.

Night five of the G1 Climax saw Callum Newman defeat Zack Sabre Jr. to improve his record to 3-1. There were also victories for Drilla Moloney, HENARE, and Gabe Kidd. Here are the quick results:

– B Block: Callum Newman defeated Zack Sabre Jr.

– B Block: HENARE defeated OSKAR

– B Block: Gabe Kidd defeated Aaron Wolf

– Shingo Takagi & Taiji Ishimori defeated Yota Tsuji & Daiki Nagai

– Ryohei Oiwa & Hartley Jackson defeated Yuto-Ice & Gedo

– Konosuke Takeshita & Toru Yano defeated Oleg Boltin & Masatora Yasuda

– SANADA & Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated Jake Lee & Zane Jay

– Great-O-Khan & Jakob Austin Young defeated Hirooki Goto & Tatsuya Matsumoto

Ren Narita was not in action today, with this being the day he was scheduled to face Shota Umino, who has withdrawn from the tournament due to a concussion and forfeited all of his remaining matches.

Through the first few nights of the tournament, Newman, HENARE, Moloney, and Kidd are tied for the B Block lead with six points. There are still a few weeks remaining before the finals happen in the middle of August. An IWGP Heavyweight Championship shot will be awarded to the G1 winner (as long as current champ Yota Tsuji does not win).

The G1 now has a few days off before resuming this Saturday (July 25) and Sunday (July 26) with one A Block event and one B Block event.
