NJPW G1 Climax night nine results, updated standings

NJPW Yuya Uemura vs. Aaron Wolf

Kicking off three straight nights of G1 action, NJPW was in Kagawa on Friday with four B Block matches.

Victories for Yuya Uemura, Callum Newman, Ren Narita, and OSKAR took place on the card. HENARE had the night off as this was the show where he was supposed to face Shota Umino, who had to withdraw early on in the tournament due to a concussion and forfeit all of his remaining matches.

Here are the quick results:

– B Block: Yuya Uemura defeated Aaron Wolf

– B Block: Callum Newman defeated Gabe Kidd

– B Block: Ren Narita defeated Zack Sabre Jr.

– B Block: OSKAR defeated Drilla Moloney

– Ryohei Oiwa & Hartley Jackson defeated Yota Tsuji & Daiki Nagai

– Jake Lee, Great-O-Khan & Jakob Austin Young defeated Shingo Takagi, Yuto-Ice & Gedo

– Konosuke Takeshita & Toru Yano defeated Hirooki Goto & Tatsuya Matsumoto

– SANADA & Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated Oleg Boltin & Masatora Yasuda

With a five-way tie at the top of B Block, there isn’t much clarity in the standings yet. The most notable thing is that Zack Sabre Jr. will need to start winning some matches soon if he wants to stay in contention after his 1-4 start.

The G1 now heads into August with an A Block event on Saturday and more B Block bouts on Sunday. There are now 10 shows left on the tour, including the August 15 semifinals and August 16 finals.
