NJPW reveals participants for G1 Climax 35 tournament

Most of the roster for this year’s G1 Climax tournament has been revealed.
During Sunday morning’s NJPW Dominion, the company revealed the first 16 participants for this year’s tournament, which begins on July 19 and runs through August 17. Four qualifying matches will take place in the next few weeks to determine the final two slots of each block.
Not many surprises have been announced thus far. Hiroshi Tanahashi, who failed to qualify for the tournament last year, will compete in his final tournament this year before retiring in January. Konosuke Takeshita, who is signed to NJPW, AEW, and DDT, will compete in this year’s tournament as well.
As with most years, the touranment has been split up into two blocks.The following people have been confirmed:
A Block:
- Hirooki Goto
- Boltin Oleg
- Yuya Uemura
- Yota Tsuji
- David Finlay
- EVIL
- SANADA
- Hiroshi Tanahashi
- Two more TBD
B Block:
- El Phantasmo
- Shota Umino
- Shingo Takagi
- Zack Sabre Jr.
- Great-O-Khan
- Gabe Kidd
- Ren Narita
- Konosuke Takeshita
- Two more TBD
Two play-in matches will take place on June 23 at Korakuen Hall while another two will be held at Tokyo Budokan on July 4. The winners of these matches will determine the last entrants for this year’s tournament. The participants for these matches have yet to be announced.
