NJPW to hold World Tag League & Super Junior Tag League at same time

NJPW is set to hold its World Tag League and Super Junior Tag League tournaments at the same time this year.

NJPW has announced that a combined World Tag League and Super Junior Tag League tour will begin at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on Monday, November 21. The tour will conclude at Sendai Sun Plaza Hall in Miyagi on Wednesday, December 14.

The tour will consist of 17 shows in total.

World Tag League will feature heavyweight tag teams, while Super Junior Tag League will feature junior heavyweight teams. NJPW has yet to confirm the participants for either tournament.

Both tournaments will likely determine title challengers for Wrestle Kingdom 17, which will be a one-night event taking place on January 4, 2023. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) are the current IWGP Tag Team Champions. United Empire’s TJP & Francesco Akira currently hold the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles.

Last year’s World Tag League tournament was held in conjunction with the Best of the Super Juniors. Super Junior Tag League 2021 took place in the summer.
