Strong Openweight title match announced for NJPW New Beginning USA
NJPW has officially announced Tomohiro Ishii’s Strong Openweight championship defense match at NJPW The New Beginning USA as he will put the title on the line against Boltin Oleg.
Ishii, 50, has held the title for 285 days after winning it from Gabe Kidd last April. Oleg, 30, is himself a former NEVER Openweight Champion as well as a NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion.
After a multi-month injury absence, Ishii returned to the ring at January’s Wrestle Kingdom 20.
NJPW The New Beginning USA is scheduled to take place on February 27 at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey.
