Absent star makes return at WWE NXT Deadline

Tony D’Angelo is back.

The end of Saturday’s Deadline PLE had Je’Von Evans celebrating his Iron Survivor Challenge win when new NXT Champion Oba Femi came out. The two were having a staredown when suddenly the lights went out. After a video aired of an unidentifiable man walking near a bridge, a spotlight came on. Evans turned around and D’Angelo was seen. Evans extended his hand but instead was met with a chokeslam. D’Angelo dumped what appeared to be black material on Evans as the show ended with D’Angelo staring down Femi.

D’Angelo was last seen in July after defeating former associates Luca Crusifino and Stacks in a three-way match. A vignette aired of him at his restaurant when suddenly someone appeared in front of him. The screen then blacked out, similar to the infamous series finale of The Sopranos. In October, it was reported that D’Angelo had requested time off, and was seen at the WWE Performance Center last month.

Teases for D’Angelo’s return started on Tuesday when Ava was given a box by Robert Stone. When she dumped the contents on her desk, it was the same black material that D’Angelo dumped on Evans at the end of Deadline.
