Booker T returning to WWE NXT commentary after family-related absence

Booker T WWE NXT Appreciation Night

Booker T is returning to the WWE NXT commentary desk after being absent for a couple of weeks.

On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T shared that he’s been away from his NXT role due to an undisclosed family-related issue. Booker T is doing great himself, but — as the youngest of eight siblings — he makes sure to be there when someone else in his family is going through an issue. We’ll get the normal NXT commentary team back tonight with Booker T working alongside Vic Joseph.

“For me, let’s get the elephant out of the room. People have been asking, you know, ‘Where has Booker T been?’ And I must say, man, I ain’t going to sit here and try to sugarcoat it or anything like that. Booker T has issues just like anybody else, and I have a huge family. I’m the youngest of eight,” he said.

“When something happens in your family, family comes first. Everything stops. For me, I always said, being the youngest of the family, it’s my responsibility to make sure I step up and be there at all times. And for me, I had just been dealing with some family stuff that I had to take a step back and deal with it and then get back to work, because I cannot deal with things without working at the same time. It’s one of those things where I got to keep my mind going. But, nah, that’s all it’s been, man. I feel good. There’s nothing wrong with me. I’m fine. I’m perfectly fine. My health is great… I feel good but I’m getting back to work [on Tuesday]. I’ll be back at the desk with my man Vic Joseph, and we’re going to get out there and do it like it’s supposed to be done, have some fun.”

The last time we heard Booker T on NXT commentary was June 9, with Corey Graves and Wade Barrett filling in during his absence. NXT is coming off Great American Bash 2026, and the fallout from the PLE is set to take place on tonight’s TV episode. Four matches have also been announced:
