Fit Finlay excited for son David’s ‘next chapter’
Fit Finlay is excited for his son David’s next chapter — which could include joining the rest of his family in WWE NXT.
David Finlay bid an apparent farewell to Japan earlier this week at the New Beginning in Osaka. During the years he spent wrestling in the country, Finlay was one of NJPW’s top foreigners and a leader of Bullet Club. He still has at least one more NJPW match left with Finlay vs. Fred Rosser set to take place at New Beginning USA on February 27.
Though his next destination is still unconfirmed, there are rumors Finlay could be headed to NXT. His father Fit is a coach at the Performance Center, and his younger brother Uriah Connors (Brogan Finlay) is part of the NXT roster. Fit Finlay sent out a tweet today expressing pride in David ahead of whatever is to come.
.@THEdavidfinlay whats next? I'm proud of the journey you have been on. I'm excited for the next chapter. Your eminence in Wrestling is undeniable!

If David Finlay does sign with WWE, he could potentially end up in NXT’s newly formed Birthright faction. There was a segment on Tuesday where Lexis King (the son of Brian Pillman) and Arianna Grace (the daughter of Santino Marella) approached Uriah Connors about joining. The idea behind the faction is that these wrestlers believe their families have earned their legacies — while the other talent in NXT are influencers and athletes who have gotten everything handed to them.
