Former NJPW referee Jeremy Marcus joins WWE NXT

Former NJPW referee Jeremy Marcus has joined WWE NXT’s officiating crew.

Marcus announced his move in an Instagram post on Sunday, including a promotional plug for NXT on USA Network.

Marcus wrote:

I’m excited to join the NXT officiating crew! Very honored to be a part of this hard working team. Catch NXT every Tuesday at 8/7c on USA Network!#NXT #NXTlive #wearenxt #wwe

Marcus was part of the officiating lineup for Saturday’s NXT house show in Sanford, Florida. His Instagram post included a photo with fellow NXT officials Edwin Franken, Joey Gonzalez, and Dallas Irvin.

Prior to joining NXT, Marcus worked in the New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America office in California, and regularly refereed on NJPW Strong shows in the United States.

In addition, Marcus refereed at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in the Tokyo Dome earlier this year, as well as serving as the referee for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship main event contest between Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi at the Battle in the Valley pay-per-view last month.

AEW referee Aubrey Edwards, AEW talent Daniel Garcia, and WWE referee Shawn Bennett were among those who posted congratulatory messages to Marcus on the Instagram post.
