The Grizzled Young Veterans return to WWE NXT
Former NXT UK Tag Team Champions The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) made their return to WWE television on Wednesday night.
As Ever-Rise (Chase Parker & Matt Martel) were in the ring for a match on this week’s episode of NXT, Gibson and Drake attacked them from behind. Gibson then cut a promo and announced that The Grizzled Young Veterans are back in NXT. Gibson declared that they’re soon to be recognized as NXT’s number one.
Gibson and Drake continued their attack by laying out Parker after Gibson’s promo. Martel had already been thrown out of the ring.
This was Gibson & Drake’s first appearance on WWE TV since March. They had already made their way to NXT US and said they were coming after the NXT Tag Team titles before plans were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gibson & Drake made it to the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic earlier this year before being defeated by tournament winners Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne.
Gibson & Drake were the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions, winning the titles in January 2019 and losing them in August of that year.
