New referee joins WWE NXT
The WWE NXT roster has a new addition, but it’s not an in-ring competitor.
Alice Lane (Katie Reynolds), who has refereed for TNA Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling, has signed with WWE and will be working as a ref in NXT. Head NXT official Adrian Butler made a post on social media today welcoming her to the team. Reynolds will be starting out at this weekend’s NXT house shows in Florida.
“This weekend’s WWE NXT Live Events in Ft. Pierce and Citrus Springs will see the debut of our new referee Katie Reynolds!” Butler wrote. “Welcome to the team, Katie!”
Reynolds received praise earlier this year for how she handled the Mike Santana vs. Steve Maclin TNA World Championship main event at Sacrifice 2026. Shortly after the match began, Maclin took a superkick to the head and was showing signs of injury. Reynolds immediately stepped in, checked on Maclin, and the match was called off. TNA presented Reynolds with an All-Star Award after the show for how well she did in a difficult situation.
Maclin was not diagnosed with a concussion but did end up spending about a month on the sidelines before he was cleared to return.
Last month, fans noticed that Reynolds (who went by Alice Lane) was no longer listed on the TNA roster page.
Both Santana and Maclin now gone from TNA —
Santana is now signed to WWE/NXT, having arrived on the brand this week after the expiration of his TNA contract.
Maclin is a free agent after being granted his release from TNA last month. Though Maclin’s next wrestling home is uncertain, he would be open to competing in ROH if the opportunity came up.
