Number one contender’s match ends in controversy on WWE NXT
Who will challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver? It’s anyone’s guess.
The finish to the main event of this week’s NXT ended in controversy. Initially, it seemed that Grey had won the match after hitting a northern lights suplex while still trapped in a guillotine. Although Grey’s music played, another referee on the outside of the ring entered and started to argue with the referee who made the pinfall attempt. A replay showed Grey tapping while the referee was making the count.
As the confusion continued, Shawn Michaels came out and tried to make sense of what was going on but things remained unsolved as the show went off the air, leaving the status of the Women’s title match at Stand & Deliver in question.
The number one contender’s match was made last week after Grey & Wren Sinclair picked up a win over Fatal Influence. Grey called her shot against champion Jacy Jayne, but Lola Vice interrupted saying she wanted next.
Two other title matches were made for this Saturday’s show in St. Louis. Vanity Project will defend the NXT Tag Team titles against Los Americanos, while Tatum Paxley will put the North American title on the line against Blake Monroe.
