Oba Femi to defend WWE NXT title on next week’s episode

Two title matches are set for next week’s WWE NXT, including Oba Femi’s first televised defense of the NXT Championship.

An in-ring promo segment on this week’s episode set up both title bouts for next week, as new NXT champion Femi was interrupted by Eddy Thorpe, North American Champion Tony D’Angelo, and Ridge Holland.

As D’Angelo and Holland paired off in a brawl, Thorpe attacked Femi, laying him out. Femi later demanded a title defense against Thorpe for next week in a backstage segment with NXT GM Ava.

D’Angelo defending the North American title against Holland was also made official for the Tuesday, January 21 episode.

Femi won the NXT title in a triple threat on last week’s New Year’s Evil special in a triple threat involving Thorpe and former NXT Champion Trick Williams. His first defense of the gold was on an NXT house show this past Saturday against Jasper Troy.

The announced card for next week:

WWE NXT, Tuesday, January 21 —

  • NXT Champion Oba Femi defends against Eddy Thorpe
  • NXT North American Champion Tony D’Angelo defends against Ridge Holland
