Thea Hail’s inadvertent championship win on the latest WWE NXT episode has reportedly caused several creative changes.

Earlier tonight on the December 16th edition of NXT, fans witnessed Thea Hail defeat Blake Monroe to win the Women’s North American Championship. Following the controversial finish and Bryan Alvarez’s report that the finish was indeed a botch, Fightful Select has now released a report on the immediate aftermath of the title change.

As per it, Hail was not supposed to win the championship tonight. Fightful Select confirmed with its NXT sources that the win was not intentional and Monroe was supposed to retain it. The surprising title change caused “backstage scramble”. It also caused issues because there were creative plans in place with Hail not winning the title, which is now being immediately changed.

The championship win has also affected several people’s creative plans that were set for the next couple of weeks. Fightful Select also noted that there have been steps taken as early as tonight to make those creative adjustments. Although no one has been blamed yet for the incident.

The final moments of the match saw Hail hit a springboard senton off the middle rope on Blake Monroe and go for the cover. Despite Monroe getting her shoulder up in time, the referee continued to perform the three-count pinfall, leading to the botch and confusing title win for Hail.
