NXT's Tuesday night debut will feature an open challenge from undisputed Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar.
On Twitter today, Escobar announced that he'll be issuing an open challenge on this Tuesday's episode of NXT. "UNDISPUTED... El Campeón!! Settled once and for all at #NXTTakeOver Stand And Deliver," Escobar wrote. "Tomorrow night, OPEN CHALLENGE! Who wants to lose? Tomorrow’s your night! #WWENXT"
Escobar became the undisputed NXT Cruiserweight Champion by defeating Jordan Devlin in a ladder match at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver night two last Thursday. Escobar and Devlin had both claimed to be the rightful NXT Cruiserweight Champion going into that match. Escobar won the match by retrieving both of their title belts that were hanging above the ring.
When Devlin was unable to travel and defend the NXT Cruiserweight Championship following the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, WWE announced a tournament to crown an interim champion. The interim branding was later dropped from the tournament. Escobar defeated Drake Maverick in the tournament finals last June.
Here's the updated lineup for Tuesday's NXT:
- We'll hear from new NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez
- Franky Monet debuts
- Undisputed NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar will issue an open challenge
Franky Monet appears to be former Impact Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie's WWE in-ring name.
