Tommaso Ciampa to face Austin Theory on NXT next week
Tommaso Ciampa’s first match since TakeOver: Portland will take place on next week’s episode of NXT.
Ciampa vs. Austin Theory is set for NXT next Wednesday. The match was announced after Ciampa interrupted Theory on tonight’s show.
Theory entered for a match tonight, but it never got started. Ciampa came to the ring, got on the microphone, and addressed Johnny Gargano. Ciampa said it’s clear that — if he wants to get his life back — there can be no Johnny Gargano in NXT.
Ciampa punched Theory when Theory tried to grab him. Theory went to attack Ciampa again, but Ciampa laid him out by repeatedly throwing him into the guardrails.
Adam Cole retained his NXT Championship against Ciampa at TakeOver: Portland when Gargano interfered and turned against Ciampa.
WWE is also advertising an appearance by Finn Balor for next Wednesday’s NXT. Balor defeated Gargano in their match at TakeOver. A video with Balor then aired on tonight’s show. He said he proved NXT is his chessboard at TakeOver and told everyone to watch his next move.
