WWE announces date for NXT Great American Bash
NXT has announced the date for their next television special.
During Sunday’s Heatwave event, it was announced that the Great American Bash would take place on the August 6 edition of NXT. It will also air on a different network, SYFY, as opposed to the USA Network.
This will be the fifth year in a row that the NXT brand has held a Great American Bash event. Most have aired on television, though last year’s show was a premium live event that was streamed on Peacock.
Last year’s show in Cedar Park, Texas was headlined by Carmelo Hayes defeating Ilja Dragunov to retain the NXT Championship. Other key matches saw Tiffany Stratton defeat Thea Hail to retain the NXT Women’s Championship and Dominik Mysterio keep the North American title, defeating Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali in a three-way match.
The Great American Bash name dates back to the early 1980s, a creation of Dusty Rhodes in the NWA and later WCW. It was also used as a WWE pay-per-view name in the mid-2000s after WWE purchased WCW.
