WWE announces NXT New Year’s Evil for January

NXT will be kicking off 2022 with a special television episode.

During NXT WarGames tonight, it was announced that NXT New Year’s Evil 2022 will take place on Tuesday, January 4. The show will air live on the USA Network.

This will be the second straight year that New Year’s Evil has taken place. At the inaugural New Year’s Evil event this January, then-champion Finn Balor defeated Kyle O’Reilly to retain the NXT Championship in the main event. Raquel Gonzalez also defeated Rhea Ripley in a Last Woman Standing match at the show.

Dexter Lumis was the host of New Year’s Evil 2021.

The most recent special NXT TV episode prior to this was October’s Halloween Havoc event. Tonight’s WarGames was the first NXT streaming special since the show’s NXT 2.0 rebrand.

January will also feature WWE’s first-ever New Year’s Day pay-per-view, with WWE Day 1 taking place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Saturday, January 1.
