A segment on Tuesday's episode of NXT was changed after it was learned that Jay Briscoe passed away in a car accident.

As first reported by John Pollock, New Day's Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston were set to host a funeral segment for Pretty Deadly on the show. However, the decision was made by management to scrap the segment after news of Briscoe's passing became known.

New Day, Pretty Deadly, and Gallus were all involved in a promo segment on the show instead. The three teams ended up in a pull-apart and have since been booked in a triple-threat title match for Vengeance Day. Prior to the segment, Vic Joseph and Booker T announced the news of Briscoe's passing and offered condolences to his family.

On Wednesday, Jay Briscoe's wife, Ashley Pugh, asked fans to pray for their daughter Gracie, who was headed into surgery due to injuries suffered in the accident. She also said that the couple's other daughter Jayleigh has "some pretty serious injuries, but is stable and resting."
